Our priorities as identified by our community are the areas where there are the greatest barriers to access for all. These priority areas include; Prosperity, Education, Health and Wellbeing, Food Security and Active Living. Without access to one or each of these areas it is increasingly difficult to maintain health and wellbeing for all. These are very broad and complex issues and by working together, focusing our efforts on increasing access to the priority areas for our citizens, everyone in our communities will be able to enjoy a healthier, more balanced life. We can work together to improve health outcomes by taking ownership, engaging, encouraging, promoting and inspiring our community to take the necessary actions to carry out our collective mission.
Education
From early childhood experiences to life long skill development, the opportunity to access learning resources and information is critical to citizen participation and reducing the impacts of poverty.
Food Security
Increasing access to healthy and nutritious food (optimally produced locally and sustainably) is foundational to long-term health and wellbeing for all residents. Food production, waste and literacy are key elements to understanding the full impact of food systems.
Health and Wellbeing
When everyone can access the health care needed, when it is needed, further illness can be avoided. When all levels of the system work together, and early identification of issues are addressed, the overall health and wellbeing of the community is attained.
Active Living
Active participation in all aspects of life is shown to increase physical and mental wellness. By collaborating to provide ongoing opportunities for all residents to actively engage with community events, organized activities and volunteer work we can support residents of all ages.
Prosperity
A prosperous community is vibrant and thrives. Neighbourhoods where everyone feels welcome and safe, where housing is liveable and affordable, and a strong economy is evident are the foundation to successful communities. A vibrant downtown core is also a reflection of the health of the community.
