The vision for growing a vital and healthy community revolves around the standard of Equitable Access to All across the Life Span. The Grand River Healthy Communities Vision Tree represents our community’s view of what we need to become a healthier community.
THE ROOTS
The roots consist of four underlying principles that form the foundation for engagement in the initiative: community ownership, shared leadership, multisector cooperation and inclusion of all diversity.
THE TRUNK
The trunk represents the rights of all people to have access to health and wellbeing.
THE LIMBS
The limbs represent priorities that are based on the social determinants of health and the principles of health equity. They include: prosperity, food security, education, health systems and active living.
THE FRUIT
The fruit, represented by a series of red circles, identify main concerns linked to each of the priority areas.
